A la MOT! Curriculum

Title: “A la MOT!”
           All you can write workshop for children ages 5-17.

Setting:  Symposia Community Bookstore located at 510 Washington Street Hoboken, NJ 07030 tel: 201.963.0909

Time:  Tuesdays beginning April 5, 2011 at 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm
Beginning April 5th will be the first class INTRO class for ages 5-12.
The following Tuesday, April 12h will be the first INTRO class for ages    
    13-17.
Classes based on age will alternate weeks.

Mission: To inspire children to explore the art of writing while enhancing their own skills.

 (Children between the ages of 5 and 17 who are enthusiastic about writing and hoping to improve their skills)

Summary:  Kids run to release their energy, like authors write to express their creativity.  A child’s imagination runs as wild as they do on the playground.  So let your kids release their creative energy at “A la Mot”, a once-a-week writing-enhancing workshop, with five different courses for your child to choose.  The ranges of courses include: Book writing, Journalism, Creative Pro-Writing, Formal Exercises and a FREE two-session Intro course. 

Course Descriptions:

Welcome! – 2 FREE sessions introducing all of the courses: Intro includes basic elements from each of the courses.
All ages.
   
Book & Bones- In this course, students will write and create their own storybooks.   Class time will include brainstorming book ideas, gathering images and illustrations and learning proper grammar and tenses for book writing.
Twelve-week course.  Recommended ages: 15-17.  Price upon request.

Hot Off The Press- Students will learn about writing for the media: print, radio and television.  Projects include writing an advertisement for a radio spot, article for a newspaper, magazine, and a television commercial.  Prepare to use your acting skills!
-Eight-week course.  Recommended ages: 13-15.  Price upon request.

Greetings From You-Students will create their own greeting cards for a range of topics.
-Six-week course.  Recommended ages: 9-12.  Price upon request.


Wide-Ruled-This class takes a more formal approach to effective writing by exercising and improving penmanship and punctuation,
-Four-week course. Open to all ages and classes cater to one age per course.  Price upon request.

Plot:  Children will develop a deeper sense of their own writing styles and how to use them more effectively.

Welcome to A la MOT Workshop!

A la MOT is a writing workshop for kids ages 5-12 who are enthusiastic and passionate about writing and enhancing their own skills.

The first class begins next Tuesday, February 8th at 5:30-6:30pm!
